Open Database Architecture
WaterPack uses a completely open database architecture, allowing it to be directly connected to an external spatial database (such as ArcGIS or MapInfo) or an external relational database (such as Oracle or SQL Server). This allows WaterPack to be part of the larger infrastructure management and planning system. In addition, WaterNetworks’s database structure can be modified or extended. For example, the WaterPack database can be extended to allow pipe network maintenance and planning data to be directly included within the base network data. Such capabilities can greatly assist in the decision making processes for network asset inventory, rehabilitation requirements, and financial planning-allowing the user to quickly retrieve the relevant information.
WaterPack is 100% EPANET versions 1.1 and 2.0 compatible, and existing competing water distribution models can be quickly imported, updated, and analyzed. In addition, WaterPack can export a completed model to an EPANET compatible data file. Moreover, input data and output results can be transferred to AutoCAD® and MicroStation® by a DXF file, allowing the network plan and analysis results to be exported.
